"You're Gone" is about the loss of my dad. It's something I've always wanted to write about, because it's my dad and he was gone way too soon, in my opinion.
lyrics
It was a Friday
The worst day of my life
I came over
Just for the weekend
But the friend I knew was gone
You're gone and I don't know what to do
All I know is I want to be with you
For that one second
That one minute
One moment longer is all I'm asking for
We used to go to Blockbuster together
My sister and I would agree on a movie
Those were the best days of my life
We didn't want anyone or anything but one another
You used to have a loft in Downtown Kansas City
You had this jersey of Harlem Globetrotters
You were so proud of it
You kept it until the day you died
No one took it, not that I know of
We used to live in Kansas
"Home of the Corn" I would say
When we went there, it was like a different world
But as time droned on and on
You got worse
And now you're gone
You're gone
And I don't have the words to say
Other than what I'm what I'm writing on this page
